American House Prices Continue To Fall
The American average house price was $170,300 (£121,900) in January, down 14.8 percent from a year earlier. A high prevalence of distressed home sales, and of those in lower price ranges has skewed the average price to be lower than under normal market conditions.

The average American house price was $191,600 in September, down 9.0 percent from a year ago when the average was $210,500. Distressed sales are currently 35 to 40 percent of transactions which are pulling the median price down because many are being sold at discounted prices.
