Forest Lake Most Popular Brisbane Suburb

Brisbane’s Forest Lake was again the most popular suburb in Queensland last year with sales of 532 over the year – a result testament to the diversity, and amount, of stock available.

“Forest Lake provides ample opportunities for people to buy new – or nearly new – contemporary homes with all the latest appliances, close to amenities and at mid-range prices,” Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) chairman Peter McGrath said.

A 1000-hectare master-planned community 22km southwest of Brisbane, Forest Lake is particularly popular with first homebuyers and young families given the extensive range of learning facilities on offer.

The highlight of the suburb is the artificial lake that serves as the centrepiece of the community. The lake is good for water sports enthusiasts keen to go canoeing, rowing or sailing. The area also boasts numerous parks, playgrounds and hike and bike trails.

The housing options in the suburb are mostly brick-and-tile homes on blocks ranging in size from 253 square metres up to 900 square metres.

The extension and upgrading of the Centenary Highway has made commuting to and from the Brisbane CBD much easier for residents.

The second most popular suburb for houses across Queensland was Buderim in the Sunshine Coast with 491 sales.

Buderim – located atop Buderim Mountain southwest of Maroochydore – has evolved from a holiday destination to a bone fide desirable residential area over the past 10 years. It is a popular choice for retirees and couples.

Buderim Mountain offers spectacular sweeping views from a height of 180 meters from the Blackall Ranges across to the Glass House Mountains, taking in ocean views in the 360-degree panorama.

The majority of dwellings are brick and tile, single-detached houses as well as apartments, townhouses and some vacant land also available. There is also a mix of traditional and renovated Queenslanders.

Buderim offers a range of property including acreage living, new residential developments, such as Rainforest Sanctuary and The Springs, and prestige property boasting uninterrupted views of the coastline.
